The intern year is important for transitioning pre-registration pharmacists from students to confident health professionals. The intern training program is a vital part of becoming a pharmacist, and it is important for both interns and preceptors to have a solid support network.
The Guild Intern Training Program is structured to provide a high level of support for both interns and preceptors. Clinical tutors engage with interns regularly to answer questions and encourage students to take initiative within their placement pharmacy, relieving pressure on preceptors.
Tutors are also available to provide guidance for new and experienced preceptors, via phone and email anytime, including:
- Direction and mentoring.
- Clear guidelines of what is expected in the program.
- Notice of industry changes that will affect pharmacy practice.
The Guild tutor team is made up of pharmacists with diverse experience, interns receive excellent advice and knowledge throughout the year. Tutors are also responsible for creating and refreshing content to ensure the program is always relevant, and considers the rapid changes taking place in the industry today.
