Following the incredible success and sell-out event in Sydney last year, the State of the Nation – Pharmacy event series made its way to Melbourne on Thursday, 29 May 2025, at Victoria by Farmer’s Daughters. The exclusive event proved to be a significant success, drawing representation from over 200 pharmacy stores and industry professionals, all eager to gain invaluable insights into the rapidly evolving pharmacy landscape and how to navigate this new era of opportunity and change.
This highly anticipated event series, a collaboration between Allfin, Lease1, Pharmacy Solutions, and Yield Advisory, provides multi-store pharmacy owners with a unique opportunity to engage with industry leaders, network with peers, and gain valuable insights to help shape the future of pharmacy.
“We created this event series because there was a clear need for a platform where multi-store owners could access crucial insights and actionable advice,” said Lachlan Ballinger, Managing Director of Yield Advisory. “The positive feedback from Sydney and Melbourne has been overwhelming, proving that there’s real value in these discussions.”
Mark Churchill, Managing Director of Allfin Financial, added, “As the pharmacy sector continues to evolve, it’s crucial for owners to have access to information that helps them stay ahead. This event series has filled a critical need, and the feedback from participants has been fantastic.”
Attendees heard from a range of industry leaders and subject matter experts across key areas, providing valuable insights into the legal and economic impacts of the shifting pharmacy landscape – equipping them with the knowledge needed to navigate the changes and opportunities ahead.
One of the key highlights of the event was hearing from prominent voices in the pharmacy industry, including Anthony Cannizzo, partner at Robert James Lawyers, along with experts from Commonwealth Bank and senior leaders from Direct Chemist Outlet. These industry leaders provided diverse perspectives on the future of pharmacy ownership, helping attendees better understand the evolving landscape and how to navigate the changes ahead.
The event was hosted by George Tambassis, Victorian Branch President of The Guild.
“I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to host such a significant event,” said George Tambassis. “It’s incredibly important for pharmacy owners, especially multi-store owners, to stay informed about changes that directly affect their businesses. This event provided a vital platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

The day also offered ample networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with industry professionals, share insights, and build valuable relationships.
Peter Marshall, General Manager at Pharmacy Solutions, shared, “Bringing together so many experienced professionals to discuss key issues facing pharmacy owners was invaluable. The discussions were relevant, timely, and insightful. This series is an essential resource for anyone serious about the future of their pharmacy business.”
The series also supports Pharmacist Support Services (PSS), with a portion of ticket sales being donated to support the vital mental health and well-being services provided to the pharmacy community.
Phil Chapman, Director at Lease1, added, “The State of the Nation series gives pharmacy owners the opportunity to not only learn about the latest regulations but also to engage with industry leaders who are shaping the future of the sector. It’s an unmissable event for those looking to stay ahead.”
Looking ahead, the State of the Nation event series will continue its journey with the next event in Brisbane on 12 June and Sydney on 14 August, 2025. Given the success of the Melbourne event and the positive response from attendees, the team expects the Brisbane and Sydney events to be equally well-received and likely sell out quickly.
