Conference Convenor Kos Sclavos AM is pleased to announce that pharmacist Doug Hoey, President of the World Pharmacy Council and CEO of the National Community Pharmacists Association (USA), will return as a featured speaker at the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP2025).

“We are delighted to welcome Doug back to Australia and to APP,” said Mr Sclavos. “We have received great feedback from delegates from Doug’s past attendance at the conference. His extensive experience in advocating for community pharmacy and his insights into global pharmacy issues make his sessions highly anticipated once again this year.”

Mr Hoey will headline the Arrotex/VidaCorp Plenary – The World Community Pharmacy Scene: Why are Some Global Giants Failing – What is the Key to Success? on Thursday 20 March, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. This keynote session will explore how community pharmacies can resist the commoditisation of prescription medicines by delivering superior patient care, quality use of medicines information, and systems to improve medication compliance. Doug will share evidence of why some global pharmacy giants are struggling and discuss the key drivers of success in a rapidly changing health care landscape.

This plenary session will include opening remarks by Dennis Bastas, Executive Chairman and CEO of Arrotex/VidaCorp, whose support as a major sponsor for APP2025 underscores their commitment to a strong, independent pharmacy sector.
