As often the first point of contact in community pharmacy, pharmacy assistants will play a crucial role in the success of the Queensland Community Pharmacy Scope of Practice Pilot (Pilot).

To support their role within the Pilot, the Australasian College of Pharmacy (College) has expanded the existing course (Queensland Community Pharmacy Scope of Practice Pilot Training for Pharmacy Assistants Course) to include the information about the health conditions.

Part 1 of the course, launched in March, covers the Pilot, the benefits to both patients and community pharmacies, and processes such as checking eligibility, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Part 2 of the course covers the 17 common health conditions, the five chronic conditions and the medication management initiatives that are included in the Pilot.

Part 1 and Part 2 of the Course are each accredited for QCPP Refresher Training and available online via the College’s CPD Library.

Pharmacy assistants can enrol in Part 1 and Part 2 for $150 (inc CST).
